Comparison is the thief of joy

Have you ever found yourself playing the comparison game? Trust me, I've been there. Just last week, I attended a group coaching session along with my fellow coaches, many of whom are lawyers. I won't deny it, I felt a pang of doubt creeping in. Surrounded by people who seemed "above" me on the corporate ladder, I thought I'd feel out of place, like I didn't belong. But then, a nugget of wisdom from my coaching training came to mind - "comparison is the thief of joy".

This simple reminder allowed me to relax, to be my genuine self. I engaged in the discussions, shared my thoughts, and guess what? I had great fun and was celebrated for my contribution.

The truth is, it's all too easy to look around and feel like everyone else is outpacing us. But here's a reality check, your journey is uniquely yours and not a race against others.

When we consume our energy comparing ourselves to others, we lose the power we have over our own lives. So, instead of looking sideways, why not focus on your own value and growth? Celebrate each small victory along your path. Remember, this journey is yours and yours alone. Keep pushing forward, embrace your own incredible story, and take joy in your personal progress.
